Homegrown in
the district.
Eric grew up as a child of an auto worker and immigrants from Vietnam who lost everything to communism and war. Michigan welcomed his family with open arms: his dad was able to support his family by working at automotive plants in Warren, Sterling Heights, and Shelby Township. But like thousands of other workers, Eric’s dad was laid off during the 2008 Recession. It was a turning point for Eric — he became determined to get the strongest education possible to advocate for his family and other American workers.
Eric became valedictorian of his graduating class at Lamphere High School and was an all-star athlete in the Macomb Area Conference. He became the first student from his public high school to graduate from Harvard College and then Yale Law School, and ultimately became a lawyer at the U.S. Department of Commerce working to bring jobs and manufacturing back home to the district. Eric lived the American Dream, and he is running to ensure that dream remains alive for thousands of working families like his.
